Manufacturer’s Warranty

Scripps Electrical Ltd is NOT responsible for setting the manufacturer’s terms and conditions. Manufacturer’s warranty terms & conditions vary between brands. The customer is responsible for educating themselves on the terms and conditions applicable to their brand of appliance. Customers are also responsible for knowing how their appliance works to ensure they are operating it correctly. If the reported fault with the customer’s appliance is deemed NOT to be a manufacturing fault by the manufacturer the customer is liable for all assessment and repair costs including house call charges.

Some of the things the “Manufacturer’s Warranty” does NOT cover:

  • Customer education
  • Installation errors
  • Blockages
  • Foreign objects in appliance causing damage
  • User damage

Workshop Assessment Fee

This fee is payable by the customer before Scripps Electrical Ltd carry out an assessment on the customer’s appliance and is not refundable. The assessment fee covers dismantling and assessment to give the customer an estimate for repair. This fee is not refundable if the customer’s appliance is found uneconomical to repair. If the customer requires their appliance to be reassembled, then further labour time to do so will be charged to the customer and payable before reassembling takes place. If the customer agrees to proceed with the repair, the assessment fee will be deducted from the final invoice and the balance is required to be paid before or upon collection of the appliance.

House Call Service Charges

Any in-home service requested by the customer will incur a House Call Service Charge. This is chargeable on the day of service (whether the appliance is repaired or not). Scripps Electrical Ltd can request this payment in advance for this service or on the day of service.

Payment

Payment is required by the customer in full for all services provided by Scripps Electrical Ltd. Payments can be made online, by bank deposit, over the phone with credit/debit card or in the office via cash or EFTPOS. Where an invoice is issued any unpaid accounts will incur late payment fees and all collection costs. Overdue accounts will be passed onto a third party for collection once the customer’s invoice is 60 days or more past the due by the date stated on the invoice.

Ownership

The ownership of any goods and materials supplied by Scripps Electrical Ltd will only be transferred to the customer when they have met all that is owing to Scripps Electrical Ltd. If any money remains unpaid or you are in breach of any obligation to us, Scripps Electrical Ltd is authorised by the customer to enter the customer’s premise to recover and resell any or all of those goods and materials.

Risk Buying Parts

All parts bought by the customer from Scripps Electrical Ltd are sold with the understanding that The customer knows the legal requirements for fitting electrical goods and that Scripps Electrical Ltd is not responsible for any injury or damage caused by incorrectly fitting of any parts. Scripps Electrical Ltd cannot offer a warranty on any goods returned as faulty unless evidence that it has been installed by a person with appropriate qualifications is provided. No refunds for misuse, incorrect diagnosis or customers change of mind. Customers legal rights are not affected.

Estimates

  • Are valid for 30 days
  • Must be confirmed before work commences
  • Can change prior to an agreement due to circumstances beyond Scripps Electrical Ltd control
  • Can vary if further faults are found or repair takes longer than the estimated time. Scripps Electrical Ltd at all times tries to ensure accurate estimates are provided.

Uncollected Product

Repair product not collected by the customer will be stored for three (3) months after the repair is completed, and will be disposed of after that time unless other arrangements are made. Product not repaired and not collected by the customer will be disposed of after twenty (20) working days (as per advice from the Ministry of Consumer Affairs) unless other arrangements have been made

Scripps Electrical Ltd Warranty

Scripps Electrical Ltd guarantees remedy of any defective workmanship and replacement of any faulty materials supplied by Scripps Electrical Ltd that is reported to Scripps Electrical Ltd within 90 days of completion of the work. This performance guarantee does not extend to any goods or materials supplied by the customer OR any unrelated new faults with the customer’s appliance. Repairs completed in the workshop must be returned to the workshop for assessment. In the case of work covered by the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, this warranty is in addition to any rights the customer may have under the Act.
